Maryna Brodovska
Visual Artist and Filmmaker
Maryna Brodovska is a visual artist and filmmaker from Ukraine. She was born in Mykolaiv and lives and works in Kyiv.
Maryna uses photography, digital collages and texts as a medium and focuses on visual storytelling. Her works are driven by the purpose of providing a visual reflection on modern social and political situations, which the artist encounters.

She started photography in 2008 after graduation from the Victor Marushchenko Photography School, Bird in Flight Photo School, and Roman Pyatkovka's photography course. Received a master's degree in culturology and art management in 2019 from the Drahomanov University of Kyiv.
The artist has published 2 photobooks. The photo book “My dear Vira” self-published in 2020 was shortlisted in Aperture Photobook Awards, Kassel Dummy Awards and IPA. Maryna's photographic projects are featured in the publications of “Bird in Flight Magazine”, “Camera Austria”, "Photo Evidence", "Untitled", "5,6" and many others.
Brodovska has taken part in Ukrainian and international exhibitions since 2008, her works are in public and private collections. She is a Ukrainian Woman Photographers Organization member and a tutor at a MYPH School.

Since 2021 she works as an independent scriptwriter and documentary filmmaker. In 2021 she graduated from the course "Creating a script for a feature film for television" at Michigan State University (online), and completed workshop on creative writing by Joan Tewkesbury in 2022. She is an alumni of MidPoint Institute since 2022.
