Maryna Brodovska
Visual Artist and Filmmaker
Maryna Brodovska is a Ukrainian visual artist and filmmaker born in Mykolaiv and based in Kyiv. Working across photography, digital collage, text, and documentary film, her practice examines memory, displacement, and the long-term consequences of war on both personal and collective identities.
Her projects often emerge from autobiographical experiences, unfolding into broader reflections on instability, belonging, and the construction of reality in times of crisis. Combining documentary and conceptual approaches, she creates layered visual narratives that move between intimate storytelling and political contexts.
The artist has published 2 photobooks. The photo book “My dear Vira” self-published in 2020 was shortlisted in Aperture Photobook Awards, Kassel Dummy Awards and IPA. Maryna's photographic projects are featured in the publications of “Bird in Flight Magazine”, “Camera Austria”, "Photo Evidence", "Untitled", "5,6" and many others.
Brodovska has taken part in Ukrainian and international exhibitions since 2008, her works are in public and private collections. She is a Ukrainian Professional Photographers Association member and a tutor at a MYPH School.
